Every word spoken, every tone conveyed, and every hesitation at the console creates directly impacts field responders, incident results, and public safety. This course explores how the crucial decisions made by public safety telecommunicators (PSTs) affect the safety, clarity, efficiency, and overall success of field responses.
Using real-life scenarios, case studies, and reviews of actual incidents, participants will examine the “PST chain reaction" impact of call-taking and dispatching methods. The course highlights that even minor choices in information collection, prioritization, questioning strategies, resource deployment, and communication approach can enhance or jeopardize responder safety, situational awareness, and incident outcomes.
